2026 African Technical Workshop on Food Safety (Abidjan)

Highlights from the 2026 African Technical Workshop on Food Safety in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, bringing together participants from across Africa and international experts to strengthen technical capacities, exchange knowledge, and promote collaboration for safer food systems.

The Algerian delegation participated through the National Institute of Agronomic Research of Algeria (INRAA) within the framework of the IAEA/AFRA Project RAF5091. The Algerian delegation was represented by Mrs. Mounira Azouz (Coordinator), Dr. Bachir Hakim (active member of the project) and Dr. Mokhtari from the CRAPC, who attended as a representative of the partner institution upon invitation from INRAA.

Our scientific contribution included three oral presentations and one poster:

  • Quality Assessment in Fish Pond Water Systems: Environmental Impact of Pesticide Use and Their Transfer.
  • Quality Assessment of Pesticide Residues in Date Palms and Other Agri-food Products.
  • Application of Nuclear and Isotopic Techniques in Food Safety Systems to Enhance Contaminant Detection in Algeria.
  • Poster: Pesticide Residues in Tomatoes and Peppers: Consumer Risk Assessment.

Mrs. Mounira Azouz also had the honor of moderating a technical panel on public health aspects and pesticide detection, facilitating scientific discussions among African and international experts on strengthening food safety systems. 🌍🤝
